The Future Of Podcasting.

Speak to any ‘social media expert’ and they will all say the same thing. The shorter the video, the better.

The direction social media has gone towards is quick fire content that can be consumed within seconds before the user swipes through more and more videos.

Podcasting has been known for it’s longer, in depth conversations with time being less of an important factor. Podcasts vary from 3 minutes all the way up to 3 hours.

Is podcasting changing?

Well, if we are analyzing the way we consume content, then it is safe to make the assumption that everything needs to be delivered in a quicker format or you risk loosing users precious attention.

However, when it comes to podcasts it depends what we are aiming to achieve. Both short and long form content each have their place.

Short form content.

Short form content is the king of grabbing user’s attention.

We are living in a culture where soundbites are through the roof. For example, this notion of: get up, hustle, repeat is something that listeners are drawn towards and they continue to live in an intense grind when life does not have to be so hard.

Long form content.

Long form content is there to gain long term trust with your listener. You have the opportunity to show who you are. When you expose so much of yourself, the listener becomes in tune with who ‘you’ are. They will begin to pick up the small things and experience these moments,

The future of podcasting.

Cultivating this long term trust with your listeners will inevitably set you up for success in the long term. Though there is space for both without a doubt.


It depends if you just want to grab someone's attention or if you want them to stay for a drink.
